Uncut announced today that a new album of My Bloody Valentine remasters will be released on June 16. The albums were personally remastered by Kevin Shields, and include liner notes with detailed information on the remastering process.
Best of all, they will be released not only on CD, but 180 gram vinyl

Duran Duran announce in BBC news this morning that they have been touring with a pack of over 100 vinyl oddities and a turntable backstage. There is an ongoing contest to see who can turn up the weirdest album. At the end of the tour, they will be auctioning off he vinyl lot for a good cause..

The Charleston Post ran a story this morning on the drive by truckers’ stop through Charleston. As everyone knows, their albums are released (or at least re-released) on vinyl. The Latest album is, according to the band, made to be on vinyl.

Even more interesting was a quote from Steve Albini on All Wave Recording, where from instrument to vinyl, no digital is inserted into the signal chain. Very interesting.

9Dream posted something that caught my eye. I am guessing that he may be a new vinyl collector (or maybe analog curious?) but he has announced that he just picked up Carole King’s Tapestry. Once of my favorite albums of all time. It’s nice to see that kids are still stumbling onto vinyl. My only beef is that he is a 20 something, and has lived a life without vinyl so long. This confirms the ever present fact that I am an old fart.

Grace Digital has announces a keen new all in one digital ripping machine that includes sleek retro styling, a turntable, a cassette deck, and an AUX in. The trick is, you are able to plop vinyl on the turntable, and pull a ripped CD out the front.
For someone interested in pushing the button and straight ripping, this sounds kind of neat.
